Training
The D.T Dobie Technical Training Centre has been in operation for over 30 years during which a numerous number of students have gone through our various training courses.
Today the Training Centre which is located at our Lusaka road premises was built at a cost of over Thirty Million Shillings and offers various training programs that put a focus on Advanced mechatronics (a combination of mechanical and electronics), IT and management skills training.
One of the many brand new training programs currently running is the apprenticeship training which takes in secondary students with a C+ average mean in their KCSE. Other criteria apply including having a good mechanical aptitude. The apprenticeship training program exceeds standards set by the Directorate of Industrial Training and takes a period of 3 years to complete.
We view the training of the technicians not simply an end in itself but a first step on a progressive road leading to higher technical qualifications and eventual managerial responsibilities.
Included in our training course and as part of our dealer development we are also offering apprentice training to our dealer network so as to ensure that high standards of quality workmanship are maintained for our customer’s benefit.
In supporting our fleet customers we also offer them training which includes:-
• Driver training
• General maintenance training for their mechanics
• Manufacturer training
The Training Centre has recently been appointed the regional training centre for the East and Central Anglophone African region by Nissan Motor Company and DaimlerChrysler.
DaimlerChrysler Germany have already invested in the training centre by providing training equipment such as:-
• Electronic diagnosis equipment
• Computers
• State of the art Mercedes-Benz E220 complete vehicle
