The East Africa Classic Rally, which started in Mombasa on 1st December and ended at the same venue on 10th December 2005, provided great excitement for the East African region. In keeping with the sense of history only cars produced before 31st December 1974 were eligible to compete. A total of 49 cars entered the rally
The route covered 4,200 kilometers through the beautiful landscapes of Kenya and Tanzania created a picture-postcard backdrop for one of the world’s greatest historic rallies.
The gruelling rally was won by the defending champions Rob Collinge and Anton Levitan driving a Datsun 240Z sponsored by D.T Dobie. Stig Blomqvist in a Ford Escort RS came second while third was Frenchman Fredric Dor driving a Porsche 911.
DT Dobie also sponsored the spectator stage at Athi River on Sunday 4th December which proved to be a wonderful day for the whole family to experience the thrills and spills of the challenging rally |
